Common Bathroom Plumbing Problems

It could be said that the bathroom is the most important room in the house.  It’s amenities are essential to everyday life however if something goes wrong with your plumbing, it can be easy to just ignore the problem and hope it goes away.  Whilst this may seem like an easy solution in the short term, it can prove costly in the long run, particularly if your fixtures have not been recently plumbed.  Before long, a dripping tap can turn into a burst pipe and then you have a real problem on your hands.  Here are some of the most common bathroom plumbing problems to look out for.

Clogs

A clogged drain is probably the most common plumbing problem.  Sink and shower plug holes can easily get clogged up by grime and loose hairs.  Though it can be tempting to live around such issues, clearing the blockage is often easily achievable by using a high street drain unblocker.

Leaks

Another common complaint is a leaky bathtub or shower cubicle.  Cracked fittings or washers that have fallen out of place will often cause leakages.  Whilst these can often be fixed by hand, it is recommended that you seek out the services of a plumber to make sure the job gets done correctly.

Blocked Toilet

A blocked toilet can be a nightmare, especially if you have children.  If you notice the water in the bowl is rising higher than usual then the chances are you have a blockage down in the bowels of your toilet system.  These can be caused by objects other than toilet tissue being flushed down and should be adhered to right away.

Drips

A dripping faucet, whilst irritating, can be easy to ignore.  It is important however that you don’t do so, or you could run in to greater difficulties firther down the line.  Today’s dripping tab can be tomorrow’s burst pipe and one is certainly easier to fix than the other.  It is always recommended to seek professional help from a plumber.

Thanks for the tips. I remember thinking plumbing would be relatively easy to learn, but I later learned that its more like rocket science. Thanks for the advice about not ignoring the little problems, like a dripping faucet. I don’t know where you’re from, but we have some great plumbers in Ann Arbor. We noticed a ceiling stain, from our bottom floor, and they were able to detect, and fix the leak before it turned into a potential disaster. The bottom-line is: Always take care of leaks, and drips, and any other plumbing issue as soon as possible.
