In as much as I wanted to post some new articles here, but lately, my kids are not feeling well and a stiff issue with BOC in the office. When I blog about my travels, I love to do it in a more comfortable location and situation for the creative juice to flow.
Lechon is the best delicacy and the typical food in the Philippines served during birthdays, anniversaries, fiestas, weddings, or any other special ocassion?
Most Filipinos of all ages crave for lechon. But what I love about it is the crunchy skin and the lean meat near the bones.
People in the provinces raise animals for a living at the same time for food. Most especially when we are expecting a special get together, it is always cheaper to raise one.
When we went home in Dumaguete, MIL bought the pig of their neighbor for hubby’s birthday. Although it was not my first time but I was there to look and to take photos of this poor animal. I wanted to document how it is made/cook so please spare me this post.
1. I originally put here the first photo when the pig was castrated but I took it out after I received the first few comments of eww and aww.. again, poor little piggy.. pardon me!
2. Now, lets start with how it is clean. The guy took out all intestines and other organs then miticulously shaved the hair.
3. After cleaning, the cook then put all the seasoning inside the pigs stomach for taste and seasoning.
4. Then the never ending rolling of the pig
5. Finished! Ready for serving.
Now.. eating time! C’mon try the skin first!!

Last December, on the way to Sibulan to check on Sea Forest Resort, we dropped by Gordo’s Pizzeria along North Road, Daro, Dumaguete to try their pizza.
The place is relatively new but possess a cozy ambiance thats truly inviting. I heard that the owner himself the conceptualized the menu and names of the pizza through his travels.
Gordo’s offers the first giant pizza in Dumaguete. The taste is comparable to that of popular Italian restaurants but offered at a lesser price.
The dough and the preparation of the pizza are prepared right infront of your nose so you are assured that the food you are getting is prepared the way you want it.
My overall impression of the food: taste and the food appearance are both exceptional. I have been to many Italian restaurants here and abroad and I could testify that Gordo’s pizza is really worth every penny spent perfect for Food Trip Friday.
